I currently live near Rotterdam and have a busy life. I enjoy good instrumental music, especially jazz. That’s why I started playing piano when I was younger, and I’ve also been playing drums for a few years now. I love being creative in any form and with jazz, that creativity is always in motion. Throughout the day, I often find myself thinking about how to solve everyday problems. I guess that’s how I ended up as a UX designer, trying to fix problems in a digital world.
My UX Design Career in Short
In 2017, I graduated from Hogeschool Rotterdam. During my internship at DPDK I was fortunate to be offered a position right after graduation.
I started as an intern and got my first job here as a UX Designer. Over those few years, I worked on around 50 projects ranging from fancy campaigns for Nike to a functional dashboard for pharmacists. During that time I also had the opportunity to serve as a jury member for FWA, which was a great way to stay up to date with the latest design trends in the industry.
I’ve been working at Schiphol for six years now as a Senior UX/UI Designer. In the first few years I was part of various teams focused on topics like parking at Schiphol, the retail environment, and flight information. For the past three years, I’ve been fully dedicated to the Schiphol app and working closely with other stakeholders to implement features throughout the whole passengers journey.
In the past few years, I’ve also enjoyed taking on side projects for friends, friends of friends, and real clients — of all sizes. I often collaborate with my wife, who’s a talented graphic designer with a great eye for creating strong, distinctive brands.
